Ball at Glenbrook: There will be a ball at the Glenbrook House. Billy Wilson will run a stage for the accommodation of the public, leaving the Ormsby House at 5 o’clock p.m. This is a very delightful affair — Glenbrook is famous for its elegant suppers and breakfasts.

First class lectures: Professor McDonald’s lectures are spicy, entertaining, scientific and instructive. A man of his talent is almost sure to succeed wherever he is. This Sunday evening he will give a free lecture on all kinds of faces and how to read them. On Monday his lecture will be on “Love, Courtship and Marriage.” At the close there will be a grand phrenological ending where six mutually adapted young couples will be mated off. As the professor’s stay is drawing to a close, those desiring phrenological examinations regarding self-improvement, health and how to sustain in life should interview him, without delay.

Governor Sparks talks fish: After fishing on the Big Goose Creek, he landed a hundred and fifty trout weighing from three quarters to a pound and a half. He looked for elk and grouse but found none, and is looking well after his trip. He reports that prospects on William Jennings Bryant being a presidential candidate in 1908 is causing men to announce they are coming back to vote the Fusion ticket in the fall.

“Elko Day Meet” at Bowers: The first picnic of the original Elko County residents was held at the historic Bowers Mansion. Over 200 persons who now reside in Western Nevada were present. Others aiding Mrs. Armstrong were Harry Mayer, W. T. Mathews, Don Riddell and Mrs. Thurman Roberts. Highlight of the day was the reading of a telegram from C. N. Bert McIntosh who wired (from New Mexico): “Please convey to the chairman of former Elko County residents meeting this month at Bowers Mansion, where my mother, then a young girl resident of Washoe City, went to dances, my felicitations as a native Elkoite ... best wishes for their continued health and happiness.”

Casting company needs movie extras: Nevada Casting Group Inc. is looking for people who want to be extras in a Warner Brothers feature film starring Robin Williams and Billy Crystal. A casting call will be held at Parklane Mall ... Hundreds of extras will be needed — people who look like they could be rock musicians, roadies and groupies.
