Judy Barainca Labate Lisansky

November 29, 1938 - July 28, 2016

Judy Marie Lisansky, 77, passed away on July 28, 2016 in Reno, Nevada.

Judy was born to John and Pauline (Guidici) Barainca in Elko, NV. Her family later moved to Ely, Nevada where she met and married her first love and father of her children, Loreto (Lorry) Labate. The family enjoyed many years of camping, fishing, sports, and boating together in the Nevada outdoors. Judy was the director of the Miss Nevada Pageant for several years, hosted the TV Homes program on KOLO and eventually took over the Be My Guest show from Betty Stoddard. She so enjoyed being on television.

Judy later moved to Hawaii with her second husband, where she learned the art of selling fine artwork. She excelled at this new venture to become the West Coast director for San Francisco-based Dyansen Galleries.

She met and married Joel Lisansky, with whom she again shifted career focus to become a successful realtor. We always said, “Mom could sell ice cubes to Eskimos!” In 2007 Judy and Joel moved to Reno so that she could be closer

to her beloved family.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, brother John Barainca, son Mark Labate, husband Joel Lisansky, and father of her children, Lorry Labate.

She is survived by daughter Laurie (Lee) Van Epps, son John (Kim) Labate, daughter-in-law Laura Labate, grandchildren Jessica (Allen) Larsen, John (Lindsay) Labate, Michelle, Jeffrey and Patrick Van Epps and Luke and Maddison Labate, nine great-grandchildren and sister Gloria Reiger.

Judy was truly a beautiful person both inside and out. Tutu, we will miss your cooking, endless love and wonderful sense of humor. Be at peace.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimers’s Association in her name.
