USDA is partnering with Friends in Service Helping, or FISH, to offer food distribution to low income individuals and families in the Carson area every other month. The next distribution will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 20 at the Carson City Community Center. Volunteers are needed from 8 to 11 a.m. on the third Friday of every other month to help with sign-ups and food distribution. Help keep our community fed and sign up today.

RSVP is seeking AmeriCorps VISTA members to become the veterans suicide prevention coordinator and volunteer recruitment manager. Benefits include a monthly stipend and a choice between an education award or a cash bonus. Veterans and advocates are encouraged to apply. RSVP is seeking volunteers to join its Carson City team. We are looking for individuals who have backgrounds in working with Microsoft Office — Word and Excel — various databases and have strong communication skills. Volunteers will be given assignments that require attention to detail and must be able to meet time-sensitive deadlines. Wylie Animal Foundation, or WARF, is looking for a volunteer in Carson City. This person would be helping to feed, clean and socialize cats in the foster home. WARF is asking for a two-hour commitment if possible. Please contact Lauren for more details.

Classy Seconds Thrift Shop is seeking volunteers for various positions throughout the shop. Volunteers are needed to help sort clothing, organize the book nook, arrange displays and greet donors. This opportunity allows Advocates to End Domestic Violence to aid victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Through volunteer service, we’re able to help victims escape violent situations.

The Nevada State Railroad Museum is seeking volunteers for a variety of opportunities at the museum. It’s looking for persons to work at the admissions desk, museum store and conduct depot ticket sales. Please contact Lauren at 775-687-4680, ext. 6 or Ljones@nvrsvp.com for more information.

The Nevada State Museum is looking for volunteers for various positions throughout the museum and for events throughout the year.

The Nevada Children’s Museum is looking for volunteers to help on the main floor of the play area and within the Science Center. This opportunity involves working closely with children and some degree of higher energy. All applicants must pass a background check before being considered. Contact Lauren Jones for more details.

All volunteers receive orientation and training. Also, volunteers can receive out-of-pocket expenses such as mileage reimbursement and are covered by several insurances.
