The Carson Blue Jays baseball team overcame an early 4-0 deficit in a big way as it came back to rout the McQueen Royals 13-5 on Friday at Carson High School.

Carson scored four runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Cody Azevedo, a two-run double by Kyle Krebs, and an RBI single by Jace Keema.

Jared Barnard had two extra-base hits for Blue Jays. He singled in the second and fifth innings and doubled in the fourth and sixth innings on his way to a four-hit game.

After allowing four runs in the first, John Holton settled down to pitch a complete game for the victory.

Krebs, Keema, Joe Nelson and Barnard led the Blue Jays. They combined for 12 hits and seven RBIs.

Austin Thomas was charged with the loss.

He allowed 11 runs in 4 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out two.

The top of the first saw the Royals take an early lead, 4-0. Alex Scott kicked things off for the Royals with a single. A groundout by John Leuenhagen then moved Scott from first to second. Drew Clarksingled plated Scott. More runs came home for the Royals on a two-run error and an RBI single by Nate Mead.

The got one-run rallies in the first and the third.

In the first, the Blue Jays scored on a wild pitch, bringing home Conner Pradere.

Carson home two runs in the second and matched that run total in the sixth. In the second, the Blue Jays scored on an RBI single by Barnard, scoring Keema.

The Blue Jays tied the game in the third on an RBI single by Terek Bean that scored Kyle Krebs.

Carson never trailed after scoring three runs in the fourth on three singles.

Carson scored four runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Cody Azevedo, a two-run double by Kyle Krebs, and an RBI single by Jace Keema.

The Blue Jays scored two more runs in the sixth. Carson scored on an error and an RBI single by Nelson.
