The renovation of the FISH thrift store begins again today as volunteer crews commence the reframing of the building. The store will remain open for business during the renovation.

Volunteers from Black Pine Construction and the Kiwanis Club will remove the large glass panes from the storefront and install a new framing for the planned Western design. The demolition phase of the project was completed in May by volunteers from the Western Nevada College Construction Program. A few weeks from now, the new windows will be installed by Fast Glass. Final touches will include brick work done by Northeast Masonry and painting by American Pride Painting. F&G construction continues to provide general contractor support, and Meeks Lumber, Home Depot, Sign-Pro, Miles Construction, and Piedmont Truss & Lumber have also assisted FISH with this project. Project design was provided by Robert Darney Architect and J.P. Coupolus.

“FISH is grateful to have the support of the community as we make these improvements to the store and the downtown corridor,” said Executive Director Jim Peckham.

The inside store phase of the renovation will be the installation of custom wallpaper displaying historic photos from the Carson City area, with thanks to Jed Block and Mike Nelson from Grafx 8 Media Group. FISH welcomes any volunteers with experience in installing wallpaper to contact it at 775-882-3474 or jim@nvfish.com.
