Carson City Civil Air Patrol unit to form

An initial composite flight meeting for Civil Air Patrol participants seeking to establish a CAP squadron at the Carson City Airport is scheduled there for Wednesday evening.

Part of the first meeting in the terminal set for 6 p.m. Wednesday will include discussion of recruiting, outreach and new membership, according to an agenda provided by Capt. Dale Brown, commander of Douglas County Composite Squadron NV-067 — Soaring Eagles. A composite group includes both adult and cadet members in the squadron.

Also on the initial Carson City meeting agenda is a safety briefing and upcoming event information.

With his agenda Brown offered a timeline for establishing a new unit, which included: establishing temporary command structure in the first month, marketing and recruitment in the first two, training new members and continued recruitment in the first four. The Carson City unit will receive continuing support from Reno and Douglas County CAP members, according to the proposed plan and timeline.

Brown said he would lead the agenda items during the first Carson City meeting.
