Titles on the line at Rattlesnake

The season’s final racing comes down to a two-day event at Rattlesnake Raceway.

The Dirt Track Championships kick off Saturday at 3 p.m. with the Northern Nevada Outlaw Karts division followed by the big boys at 5 p.m. Racing concludes Sunday at 11 a.m. with Karts and stock carts follow at 1 p.m.

Drives will make their final push for a points championship after many all but clinched a title last weekend.

Bryan Kaster swept the Gen-X class on Saturday with wins in the preliminary heat and main event. Dave Raber added a pair of second-place finishes in both heats, while Christy Rasmussen all but locked up the point championship with a fourth-place finish.

Rasmussen leads the class with 428 points followed by Jeremey Christen with 353 and Lee Ketten Jr. in third with 265.

Eric Taylor won the main event in the Hobby Stock division, while Tony Taylor finishes second.

In the preliminary heats, points leader Scott Tenney and Pete Baglin each recorded wins. Tenney also finished third in the main event followed by Alex Pettit and Jason Irwin.

Since July 19, Tenney has increased his points lead by 36 over second-place Shane Cazel. Tenney leads the class with 520, while Cazel is second with 452 and Chris Christiano (432) and Dennis Buehn (424) are third and fourth, respectively.

In the IMCA Northern Sport Mod division, Zachary Cali all but locked up his points title with another sweep. Cali beat out Pete Olsen and has recorded seven preliminary and main event sweeps this season.

Cali has 479 points followed by Olsen (368) and Chris Neal (254), who did not compete in last week’s race.

In the IMCA class, Shawn Natenstedt picked up the win and a second-place mark in the prelim. Dave Sciorroni, making his first appearance at Rattlesnake this season, took second in the main evet, while points leader Robert Mull was third.

Mull has dominant the division as his lead is 441-337 over Fred White, while Travis White sits in third (304).
