Carson City job fair Friday features 47 employers

Nearly 50 employers, including the Click Bond manufacturing firm and Vail Resorts, will meet job seekers Friday at Carson City’s second Job Fair of 2014.

The fair in the Carson City Community Center gymnasium at 851 E. William St. runs from 2 until 4:30 p.m., though military service veterans will be allowed in early at 1:30 p.m. In addition to 47 prospective employers, if all committing show up, there will be ten other tables staffed by people from various work force training or assistance resources from government or the private sector,

The job fair again is sponsored by city government’s Health and Human Services Department, the local Chamber of Commerce and JOIN, or Job Opportunities In Nevada. Ronni Hannaman, Chamber executive director said there are jobs for those interested.

“Even though our economy is improving almost daily and our unemployment rate is more manageable, there are many jobs still available for those seriously seeking full-time or part-time employment,” she said.

The chamber, which prints the flier for the event each time, noted the prospective employers and work force resource people have set aside time to find willing workers and voiced hope that job seekers would prepare background information and show up prepared to make a good impression.

Among the other 45 prospective employers listed as participating were these 10: Casino Fandango; Cactus Jacks; Gold Dust West; Harrah’s and Harvey’s; Burlington Coat Factory; JC Penney; LOWES; Sierra Nevada Media Group; Wells Fargo, and Western Nevada College.

Employers attending the job fair represent manufacturing, retail, gaming, staffing agencies, utilities, home health care, security, government and others, according to a city government HHS news release.
