Judith D. Rand

March 8, 1943 - March 4, 2014

Judy Rand passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at her home in Virginia City. She lived and worked in the Carson City area for the last 35 years, born and educated in Oklahoma. Judy, a gifted kindergarten teacher, dedicated her life to her students at Bordewich/Bray Elementary School. She will leave a legacy to all the young “buttons” whose lives she touched, starting them on a special life path through the Kindergarten experience in her classroom. Judy, a heart person through and through, was a treasured friend to many. She loved the outdoors, spending a lot of her free time in the Graeagle/Calpine areas and in recent years rode her Harley Davidson with Will, her fiancé. She is survived by her two sons Christopher and Dustin, her partner, Will Luedke and two brothers and a sister. Taken from us too soon, she will be truly missed by all her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Virginia City High School, Attn: Quilt Program, P.O. Box C, Virginia City, NV 89440. After her retirement with the Carson City School District, she was a substitute teacher at Virginia City High School whose students became dear to her heart and especially the positive benefits for students provided by the Quilt Program. A private burial for family at the Satley Cemetery in California’s Sierra Valley will be scheduled at a later date.
