Carson trio shines in the pool

Ewan Kalley  won the 25 fly, 25 back, 50 fly, 50 free, 50 back, 100 IM, 100 free and was second in the 50 breast at the Bishop Invitational.

Ashley Meyer (16), Nicole Van Geel (14) and Ewan Kalley (7) won high point honors in their respective age groups for the Carson Tigersharks at the recently concluded Bishop Invitational.

Meyer won the 1,000 freestyle, 400 individual medley, 200 I.M., 200 free, 200 butterfly, 100 fly and was second in the 100 backstroke, 100 free, 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke. Van Geel won the 400 I.M., 500 free, 200 back, 100 breaststroke, 100 back, 200 free, 50 free and was second in the 100 free. Kalley won the 25 fly, 25 back, 50 fly, 50 free, 50 back, 100 I.M., 100 free and was second in the 50 breaststroke.

Drew Briggeman was second in the 18 age group with second-place finishes in the 200 I.M., 100 free, 200 back, 100 breaststroke, 200 free and 50 free.

Amy Harrison (18), Michelle Harrison (16), Sami Kolb (8), Morgan Nelsen (13), Hannah Presley (12) and Bryan Remick (15) were third place in their age groups in the high-point chase. Harrison’s best finish was a third in the 50 free. Michelle Harrison was second in the 500 and 1,000 free and third in the 200 I.M., 100 free, 100 fly, 200 free and 50 free. Kolb won the 200 free and was second in the 50 free, 50 back, 25 fly and 25 free. Nelsen won the 100 and 1,000 free, and was second in the 100 breaststroke, 200 free, and 50 free. She was third in the 100 and 200 back. Remick won the 200 breaststroke, was second in the 100 breaststroke and third in the 100 free, 200 back, 100 back, 200 free and 50 free. Presley won the 50 free and was second in the 100 free, 200 free, 100 fly, 500 free and 100 back, and she was third in the 100 I.M.

Cheneys and Tsudas

win T. Canyon event

Glen and Jackie Cheney, and Glenn and Denice Tsuda scored a 26.8 to win Thunder Canyon’s Sunday 4-played scramble on June 29.

Bob and Cathy Weise and Brian Sear and Georgia Thomas finished at 28.6, while Bob Oglesby and Sandi Oglesby, and Mike Bennert and Rob May were third at 31.9.

• Sue Camp finished with 18 points to win Thunder Canyon’s women’s Modified Stableford event. Joyce Powell was second with 17 while JoAnne McKnight was third with 16,

On the men’s side, Glen Cheyney, Larry Easterlng, Larry Greenman and Leland Sullivan combined for a 131 to win the One in the Bucket format. Henry and Steve Loos, and Justin Gran and Max Gundlach were next at 137. Chuck Griffin, Sullivan and Steve McKnight were at 138.

Silver Oak to host

night tournament

Silver Oak Golf Club will be the site of a Glow in the Dark tournament on July 11.

Registration begins at 7 with a shotgun start at 8:30. The cost is $75 which includes nine holes of golf with cart, range balls, cocktails and appetizers, glow balls and raffle prizes.

• Eric Ottenheimer shot a net 68 to win Flight 1 at Silver Oaks Monthly Masters event. Jim Silsby was second at 69, while James Potter, John Meyer, John Owens, Lee Plemel, Phil Doss and William Kapczynski tied for third with 70s. Gary Nitzberg, Gary Yoakum and Jeff Cloutier tied for Flight 2 honors with a 68. Bill Fraser and Joe Paden tied for fourth with 69s.

Dalen shoots net 64

for Empire Ranch win

Gary Dalen shot a net 64 to win the A flight at the recent Empire Ranch Senior Men’s event on June 25.

Bll Hetherton, Ken Stone and Geoff Swann were a stroke behind Dalen. Dennis Justin and Tom Sawyer tied for the B flight with a 65, while Mike Vadnais and Nick Paul tied for third at 67.

Tom Harlow shot 63 for the Flight C title, a stroke ahead of Clark Reid. Fred Perdomo and Richard Ziegler tied for third with 67s. Bob Pluth won Flight D with a 61, three shots better than Dan Rodgers and Peter Youngdahl.

Carson Valley

Marc Prause shot a net 69 to win Flight A at the Carson Valley Men’s Club stroke play event on June 29.

Marc Menezes was second at 71 folowed by Glen Watson with a 73. Augie Martinez won Flight B with a 66, while Mike Davis and Roger Hala tied for second at 69. Neil Bain won Flight C with a 64, two strokes ahead of Frank Tisiot and Jack Zippwald. Paul Finan won Flight D with a 66, two shots better than John Guidicatti,

Warriors U-13 squad 2-2

at Midnight Madness

The Nevada Warriors, a U-13 baseball team from Carson City, went 2-2 at the recently concluded Midnight Madness baseball event at Centennial Park.

The locals beat the Carson Valley Scorpions, 16-0, and then knocked off the Reno Mavericks, 10-1, before losing 11-6 to the Reno Gunslingers and 7-4 to the Lodi Outlaws.

Conner Culp threw a no-hitter in the opener, while the offense got two hits apiece from Vernon Painter, Coby Dye and Ryan Mallard. Painter picked up the pitching win in the second game, as Jackson Frank went 3-for-3 while Kahle Good went 2-for-3. In the 11-6 loss, Frank again had three hits with Dye and Good adding two each. Against Lodi, Good, Culp and Dylan Wetzel had a hit each.
