Dayton Valley looking for men’s club members

The Dayton Valley Palmer Club, the men’s golf club at Dayton Valley Golf Club, is open to public membership and now accepting applications for the 2014 season. Any area male golfer age 18 or older can join by paying annual dues of $250. Dues for members who have a Northern Nevada Golf Association membership and GHIN handicap with another golf club are $220.

The full dues fee includes NNGA/GHIN number and handicap and entry into 10 tournaments including a skins game, club championship and two-day member-member tournament with four 9-hole formats. Also on the schedule are the member-guest invitational and annual match play championship that require nominal additional entry fees. Palmer Club members also receive a discounted green fee on tournament days.

In 2014, an Associate Membership has been added for players unable to play the full schedule of tournaments. For $130, an Associate Membership includes NNGA/GHIN number and handicap and entry into two tournaments. Other details apply and are included in the membership prospectus.

The season begins on Saturday, March 15 with a 4-man green ball/scramble tournament.

Carson High hosts junior cheer camp

The Carson High cheerleaders are hosting a junior cheer camp on March 1 from 9 a.m. to noon in Senator Square. The doors will open at 8:30 a.m.

All participants will perform on stage at the Carson Community Center during the Mr. Carson High pageant on March 7.

The cost of the camp is $25 for returning campers and members of the Pop Warner or Sierra Youth Football cheer squads who register before Feb. 28. The cost for everyone else attending is $30. There is no cost for children with special needs.

Snowshoe event set for Feb. 23

The Tahoe Mountain Milers Club is hosting the Fresh Tracks 5k snowshoe walk and race Feb. 23 at 10 a.m. at Camp Richardson.

Proceeds will go to the Eric Nageotte-Lowe scholarship fund for the Heavenly freestyle team and Girls On the Run-Sierras.

Early registration is only $20 by Saturday. The registration day of race is $30.

Carson bowlers trounce Manogue

Carson High’s bowling team knocked off Bishop Manogue, 35-10, last week at Coconut Bowl.

Jacob Zumbro rolled games of 258. 215 and 222 en route to a 695, and teammate Matt Liddell rolled a 663 with a high game of 256.

Alec Fletcher was next with a 247-594 followed by Conlin Herrick with a 203-588, Samantha Hinton 211-576, Dustin Floyd 207-564, Billy Myer 202-547, Skylar Belcher 205-530, Chris Baird 278-530, Tyler Lethcoe 192-512 and Brett Paulson 185-507.
