Clear Labor Day weekend ahead

Pack up the outdoor gear or break out the barbecue mitts.

If you’re traveling in the region this holiday weekend, expect good weather to go with the decent gasoline prices available when you start from Carson City.

Even if you’re just planning a cookout in the backyard, though, the National Weather Service office in Reno reports Carson City’s weather will likely be dry and neither too hot nor too chilly each day. Zach Tolby, meteorologist, said whether traveling nearby or staying put, capital city residents need not concern themselves about inclement weather.

“We’re definitely not expecting precipitation,” Tolby said. He said temperatures would be about normal here for this time of year and there could be some cloudiness to accompany late summer’s sunshine.

“Not too bad, though,” he said of the few clouds he anticipates. Going into the weekend, he said, today will provide the warmest day time temperature with a high of 92 expected, but the three-day weekend highs will moderate to the mid- or upper-80s. Night time lows, if you’re camping in the area, will likely be in the mid-50s.

“We’re not expecting any significant storms,” said Tolby.
