Abraham Curry (Continued from Saturday). It was this amassing energy which took contracts without estimates and regardless of rules — without any base of supplies or lines of retreat. Curry was born in Utica, Oneida County, New York on the 19th of February, 1815. As a boy he was apprenticed in the baker’s trade. Then he went to the Erie Canal and then to Lake Erie and owned steam and sail vessels (continued on Tuesday).

Hank Monk’s Ghost. Henry Sharp says that as of late the barroom of the Ormsby House has been haunted by the spirit of Hank Monk during the silent hours. Regular visitors will recollect that both in winter and summer Monk would sit behind the stove of that establishment in an old, decrepit chair and rarely in any other. Now, Henry says that chair, placed in the remotest corner at night is found behind the stove in the morning. Charley Sharp, who sleeps in the office, corroborates the above stating he hears the chair move after he retires.

One of the most destructive fires that has visited this city occurred this morning when the livery stable of Doc Benton was almost totally destroyed. It is thought that matches or cigarettes started the fire in the hay loft at the rear of the main building. This is a heavy loss for Mr. Benton.

Nevada’s cattlemen are making a gallant effort to combat the shortage of beef in the nation. Records compiled by the state show 13,730 more stock cattle on ranges today than a year ago.

A volunteer group seeking the removal of four White Pine County school board members planned to file a petition for recall this afternoon. A county grand jury recommended four board members and school superintendent quit last April.
