Given the many overlapping events of Nevada Day Weekend, Piper’s will host the 2013 Governor’s Ball on Saturday, Oct. 19. Music will be provided by the Dennis Butterfield Victorian Orchestra, in conjunction with Dance Master Gus.
The Nevada Rodeo Queens will host an auction for one of the Proscenium stage boxes. The box seats four and includes champagne and special appetizers by Chef Richard Oates, owner of Core @ the Cider Factory in Virginia City.
Doors open at 6:15 p.m., the auction will be held in the auditorium at 6:45, and dancing will be from 7-11 p.m. Appetizers will be provided for guests, and there will be a no-host wine/beer/soft drink bar in the back of the auditorium.
Tickets cost $25 in advance; call 775-232-1593 or send an email to governorsball@gmail.com. Tickets at the door will be $30. All proceeds from the ball, including the auction, support Piper’s Opera House in keeping the house open for events year-round.
