Obituary: Elinor P. Zito

Elinor Patricia Zito, loving wife, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully at Carson Tahoe Hospital on October 30, 2013. She was born in Mt. Pleasant, New York on January 26, 1939 to George Ellis and Veronica DePietro Ellis. Ellie graduated from White Plains High School with the class of 1957. On October 2, 1960, she married the love of her life, Peter Joseph Zito, who preceded her in death in 2008. Ellie and Pete lived in Huntington Beach and South Lake Tahoe, California before moving to Dayton, Nevada in 1989. Ellie and Pete were very active in their church, St. Anne’s in Dayton. She loved reading, traveling, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family. Her most recent residence at Carson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, showed off her leadership qualities and organizational skills as the President of the Patient’s Council, complete with her very own gavel.

Ellie is survived by her brother, George and his family, nephew, Richard Zito and family, niece, Betty Ann Overley and family and many dear friends.

A funeral mass is set for Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 3000 North Lompa Lane, in Carson City. Internment will follow the service for immediate family at Dayton Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ellie to St. Anne’s Catholic Church building fund in Dayton, Nevada. FitzHenry’s Funeral Home is in charge of final arrangements.
