Carson started its offensive onslaught in the first inning, and never let up.

Colby Zemp slammed a 3-run homer in the first inning, and Kahle Good added two solo homers to lead Carson City to a 15-8 win over North Tahoe in a 11-12 consolation game at the District 1 Championships Wednesday night at Governors Field.

Carson returns to action at 8 p.m. Friday in another consolation contest.

Carson collected 13 hits, three by Good and two by Landon Truesdale, Ben Nelson and Teigen Key. Zemp, Hayden Hudson, Gabe Kenney and Ian Pettersen each added one hit apiece.

The locals tallied three runs in the first when Truesdale, who reached base four times, singled. Josh Buchan dropped down a bunt, which was misplayed by North Tahoe pitcher Garrett Lavoie, and was safe at first. Zemp followed with his aforementioned homer to make it 3-0. Lavoie retired the next three hitters.

Carson made it 5-0 in the top of the second with two more runs on singled by Hudson, Pettersen and Truesdale plus an error, wild pitch and passed ball.

North Tahoe got a run back in the bottom of the inning when Mick Carey singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch, to third on a passed and scored on a single by Isaac Mozen. North Tahoe tied the game at 5 in the third inning as Mozen Aidan Fenton, Eli Snyder and Graham Payne hit safely.

Carson rebounded with four in the fourth to take a 9-5 lead.

Good, who went 3-for-3, singled. Trusedale walked, and both runners moved up on a wild pitch. Buchan was safe on an error, allowing both runners to score. After an out, Cole Salacies was hit by a pitch. Key followed with a single to score Buchan. Nelson followed with a blooper over first base. Snyder made a nice grab, but apparently forgot about Salacies, who tagged up and scored from second base on the play to make it 9-5.

Payne cut Carson’s deficit to 9-8 with a 3-run homer in the bottom of the fourth off Buchan.

That was as close as North Tahoe would get. Carson scored once in the fifth off Lavoie and five times in the sixth off reliever Marcus Trotter.

Good hit his first homer of the game in the fifth. In the sixth, Good hit his second homer of the game and Gabe Kenney tripled. North Tahoe also made three errors in the inning.
