Obituary: Evelyn M. Martin


Evelyn M. Martin (Mc Mullin, Hirst), born in Gays Mills, Wis. on Sept 16, 1919 to Leslie and Emma Mc Mullin. In 1924, the family moved to Janesville, WI. where she attended school, graduating from high school in 1936. She was employed at the Parker Pen Co. until 1940, when she married Harold D. Hirst of Beloit, WI. They had two children, Judith and David, and in 1946 moved to Long Beach, CA. Another son, Douglas was born in 1953. In 1968, they moved to Santa Barbara, CA., where she was employed by Sovereign Life Insurance Co., where she became a 2nd Vice President. The Hirsts were divorced in 1976. In 1983, Evelyn married Marvin L. Martin in Sedona, Ariz. They moved to Incline Village, NV. where they lived until 1996 when they moved to Carson City, NV. They became active in the First Presbyterian Church, the C.C. Senior Citizens where they were volunteers for many years, and in the Young at Heart bowling league.

She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, her sister Iliff Garber, her brother Ronald Mc Mullin, and grandson Mathew and a great granddaughter, Autumn. Her husband, Marvin, passed away on Aug 10, 2008.

Her survivors are daughter Judith K. Schulz of Richmond, KY. son David J. Hirst of Durango, CO.; son Douglas D. Hirst of Fairview, NC., six grandchildren, also 2 great granddaughters and 3 great grandsons; also 3 nieces and one nephew. Evelyn passed away on Feb. 18, 2013. Cremation by Fitzhenry's and internment at Lone Mountain Cemetery. The Memorial Service will be Friday March 1, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, 306 W. Musser St. at 2:00P.M.
