Obituary: Florance A. Hobdy


Florence A. Hobdy, beloved mother, Aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and friend, passed away in Carson City on February 9, 2013, after a short illness. Florence was born to Michel and Martha Brochez in Essex Canada in 1922. She attended and graduated from El Monte High School in 1939. She then married Roy Hobdy in June of 1939 in Los Angeles, Ca. and they had two sons, Michel and Gary. They lived in Southern California for a short time, and then moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1950. After many years of living at Lake Tahoe, she made her home in Carson City, enjoying the good times with her sons and watching over her ever growing family.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Ex-Husband Roy, and two sisters, Julie Graves, and Barbara McLane. She is survived by her sons Michel (Marilyn) Hobdy, Gary (Kathy) Hobdy, six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren , 3 step- great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a nephew (his wife, son and daughter)in Sacramento, Ca., a nephew in Bishop Ca., and many other family members and friends. Florence loved and lived for her family. She enjoyed all the family gatherings on the Holidays, Birthdays, and any occasion at all. She was always there for us, right to the end.

At the request of Florence, there will be no services.

The family would like to thank Char Foerschler and her entire staff at the Carson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the special care and kindness that was given to Florence in her time of need. She was 91 years young, lived a happy life, and still left us too soon. She will be greatly missed and forever loved and remembered in our hearts.
