New cancer support group in Carson

Women Against Cancer, a support group for women in the community seeking help coping with any stage of cancer, will begin meeting next month at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Carson City.Dr. Deb Cash, leader of another support group working through the church in the city’s historic district, announced the aim is to have the two support groups offer similar help and strive to meet similar goals. The other group is called the Caregiver Support Group.The caregiver group meets the first and third Thursdays of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the church at 314 N. Division St., and the new cancer group will meet the first Monday of each month there, also at 5:30 p.m.Membership at St. Peter’s isn’t required. A safe, free and supportive environment is offered, as well as practical help and emotional or spiritual support. Dr. Cash will be joined by the Rev. Kim Morgan in offering a non-biased and caring meeting for women afflicted by cancer and facing chemotherapy or other treatments for the disease.
