Langham takes over leadership of Carson Chamber Singers

Michael Langham will take over as the director of the Carson Chamber Singers next season.

Carson City Symphony Association made the announcement at a rehearsal of the Carson Chamber Singers led by Judy Monson, founding director, who will be stepping down in July after 27 years. The search committee, including members of the Symphony Association Board of Trustees and Chamber Singers, made the selection after a thorough search, interviews, auditions, and input from the singers.

"We commend the search committee for bringing us such a superb musician to direct the Carson Chamber Singers," said Elinor Bugli, president of the Carson City Symphony Association.

He will be introduced to the public at the free Pops Party concert at 3 p.m. June 10 at the Governor's Mansion.

Carson Chamber Singers, founded in 1985 as an affiliate of the Carson City Symphony, performs with the Symphony and independently each year.

A multi-talented musician, Langham plays harp and piano with the Carson City Symphony and has served as accompanist and coach for the Carson Chamber Singers. In 2011, he performed as organ soloist with the Carson City Symphony as part of Artown in Reno. He is Director of Music, Choirmaster, and Organist at Trinity Episcopal Church in Reno, and a founding member of Quintessence, The Carson City Harp Ensemble.
