Two men arrested in meth investigation

A three-month investigation resulted in two men being arrested and the recovery of a 195 grams of methamphetamine on Thursday.The Tri-NET Narcotics Task Force, in conjunction with a series of other law enforcement, conducted the arrest operation after allegedly arranging to buy methamphetamine from Cesar Rodriguez-Diaz and Miguel Pena. Detectives arranged to meet the two in the 3600 block of Carson Street and were arrested after walking into a local business. Both men were arrested, although Pena allegedly attempted to flee and throw several bags of meth away, according to the task force.Rodriguez-Diaz’s four-year-old child was at the business when the two men entered it.Two arrests warrants were served on a residence belonging to Rodriguez-Diaz. Scales and $1,400 were taken and a truck was seized as a vehicle used in a drug transaction.During the investigation and subsequent searches a total of 195 grams with an approximate street value of $19,500, according to the task force.Rodriguez-Diaz was charged with three counts of level three trafficking a controlled substance, two counts of level two trafficking, five counts of sale of a controlled substance, conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act, having a minor present during a controlled substance violation and child endangerment.Pena was charged with two counts of level three trafficking, two counts of sale of a controlled substance, two counts of conspiracy to violated the controlled substance act, having a minor present during a controlled substance violation and child endangerment. Both men are being held on $250,000 bail. The investigation and arrest were completed with assistance from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team and the K-9 division, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Street Enforcement Team, the Department of Public Safety Fallon Narcotic Task Force and the Department of Public Safety Major Crime Unit. The Tri-NET Narcotic Task Force is under the Department of Public Safety.
