Free shows at Sierra Place

Sierra Place welcomes the community to two free special events in the next week.

At 3 p.m today, Sourdough Slim, last of the Vaudeville Cowboys, brings his fast-

paced show of cowboy singing, yodeling, and comedy to Sierra Place. He also plays the accordion, guitar, ukulele and harmonica in his authentic Western cowboy outfit. Born in Hollywood, he spent much of his childhood on his family's cattle ranch in the Sierra Foothills.

Get on board for a tour of the universe at 2:30 p.m. Monday. Michael Thomas, president of the Western Nevada Astronomical Society, will present a lecture and slide show journey from the sun and our solar system, outward through our galaxy, to the very limits of the known universe. The show includes amazing Hubble Space Telescope images and explanations of new discoveries and objects.

Sierra Place is a senior living center at 1111 West College Pkwy. For more information, call 775-841-4111
