Man dies in Mound House fire

A fatal fire in Mound House on Saturday night is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office.

According to Central Lyon County Fire Chief John Gillenwater, crews were called out to 11 Calcite Drive at 7:43 p.m. Saturday.

Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire in a bedroom, keeping the flames contained to that space, but they found the body of a deceased man inside. His name and age have not been released.

Gillenwater said that prior to the fire crews arriving, family members were attempting to extinguish the flames with a garden hose.

One person was treated for smoke inhalation, and firefighters gave oxygen to a dog, said Gillenwater.

The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the fire.

On Sunday night, fire crews were called out to a garage fire in Stagecoach on Cheryl Way. The flames were contained to the garage. There were no injuries.
