Obituary: Christine Z. Rasner


Christine Z. Rasner went to be with the Lord in Heaven, peacefully surrounded by angels, her family, and loving care staff. She was born June 11, 1936, in Tazewell, Tenn. She dedicated her life to serving God. She never knew a stranger, had a heart of gold, and was a true prayer warrior, always in prayer for others in need. Her loving feline companion, "Tiger Joe" rarely left her side.

She is survived by her daughter, Terry Rasner-Yacenda (Dr. John Yacenda), and sons Danny (Karen) Rasner, Michael "Scotty" (Leanne) Rasner, and Darrell (Jill) Rasner. Grandchildren include Darrell Jr., Nathaniel, Jacob, Jesse, Sarah, Rachael, seven great-grandchildren, and her twin sister, Maxine Snodgrass.

She was preceded in death by her father Millard Yeary and mother Laura Edens Yeary, five brothers, four sisters, and grandson Brandon. A member of Good Shepherd Wesleyan Church in Carson City, her funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 8. Church viewing is 1-2 p.m., 1505 Railroad. Dr. Marvin H. Dennis Jr. will officiate.

Christine's entombment will follow at Walton's Carson Garden Mausoleum. A reception will follow at Thunder Canyon Golf Club in Carson City. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all Vista Care Hospice and Monaco Ridge staff for their outstanding care and love for our mother.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Christine's name can be made to the Nevada Humane Society, 2825 Longley Lane, Reno 89502. Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of final arrangements.
