Churches merge

Berean Bible Church and Gentle Shepherd Bible Fellowship merged on Sept. 12 to become Berean Bible Church at 1516 Highway 395, Gardnerville.

Berean Church met in their Haas Center location for 11 years. Gentle Shepherd met in the Gardnerville Ranchos for the last five years, and is in the process of dissolving its legal charter.

The combined church is led by Eddie Almeida and Llew Bush.

Almeida of Berean Bible Church is senior pastor who teaches from the Book of Romans at 9:30 a.m. Sunday worship. Almeida is a graduate of the Master's Seminary in Sun Valley, Calif.

Bush, formerly of Gentle Shepherd, is ordained as elder of Berean Bible Church and will conduct Sunday worship every five or six weeks. He is a graduate of Talbot School of Theology, La Mirada, Calif.

Church members gather 6 p.m. Wednesdays for informal discussion of "unleashing God's Word in Your Life" by John MacArthur.

Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church offers Bible study classes for men, women and groups this fall. Information on class schedules at 267-3680.

Harvest auction

Smith Valley Community United Methodist Church and St. John's Catholic church host the 36th annual Harvest Auction on Oct. 17 at Smith Valley Community Hall in Wellington. Doors open at 10 a.m., auction begins at 11:30 a.m.

The event features craft and "junque" boutiques, country kitchen, snack bar, silent auction and raffle.
