Tonight, Gardnerville throws the switch on a week of activities with its annual Carson Valley Christmas Kickoff at 5:30 p.m.
Festivities include a visit from Santa Claus, and the lighting of the Christmas tree and the Heritage Park Pavilion.
Holiday music is provided by the Sierra Ringers and Christmas carolers, and there will be wagon rides, and a musical light show.
Free refreshments are hot chocolate, hot cider, and Dutch oven cobblers provided by Town of Gardnerville, and popcorn provided by Gardnerville Water Co.
After tonight's event, the Christmas light show in Heritage Park will repeat 4:30-10 p.m. throughout the holidays. While at the park, tune the car radio to 89.9 FM to hear the music accompanying the light show.
