The honey flow in Carson Valley has slackened up a during the past week and while it will continue as long as alfalfa remains in bloom, the amount will be of consequence, bee men report. Bee owners are preparing the crop for shipment, which details a lot of tedious work, such as scraping paraffin from the small sections, placed there before they were put in the supers to prevent staining of the white wood. The crop this year is about normal but estimated to be above that of last season. Prices offered, it is understood, are not what producers expected.

The residents of Minden voted with their hands and let John Shahin, the man who wants to develop a tract in the East Valley, know that they did not care for his choice of Minden Heights as the name to honor the town. As a result, Shahin renamed the project Buckeye Creek, for the creek that runs along the property he owns. Some of the residents' suggestions for the new name included, Eastside Heights, Pine Nut Gardens and Little Reno.

A skate park planned for Lampe Park may be moved across the street if an earlier offer of a 22-acre land donation stands. Douglas County leaders indicated they would prefer the site, across Waterloo Lane south of Lampe park, if Herbig Properties Ltd. follows through on a year-old offer to donate the land to the county. The commissioners decided in 1999 to put the skate park on the south side of Lampe Park, between the tennis courts, a playground and a parking lot. Though neighbors objected, the vote was unanimous.
