Clay shoot benefits Carson Valley resident

Carson Valley Clays will host a Super Bowl benefit shoot for Jerod Lees, Saturday, at the Carson Valley Clays Gun Club located at 61 China Spring Road, south of Gardnerville. Cost will be $50 with $5 back to class. Profits from the shoot benefit Lees who was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia.

Lees, a lifetime resident of Carson Valley and a member of Carson Valley Clays, is 27 years old and married with two children. Lees is a graduate of Douglas High School. He was diagnosed with leukemia about two months ago, has had chemotherapy and is waiting for a bone marrow transplant. Lees is employed by Sunshine Construction but han't been able to work during his treatments.

Sign-ups begin at 9:30 a.m., shoot begins at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Lewis class scoring for 100 sporting clay targets. Lunch provided as part of the entry.

The event features a raffle for prizes including a donation of a ton of grass hay or a load of screened DG delivered in the Valley from Alton Anker of A & A Construction, wine and a round of golf for four at Genoa Lakes.
