Gazebo lighting and German marketplace

The lighting of the gazebo and Christmas tree in Minden Park is 6 p.m. tonight. The German Christmas Marketplace is today through Sunday in downtown Minden. Hours are noon to 8 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Information, 782-2444. See page 14 for more information.


Elks spaghetti feed

The Minden/Douglas Elks' annual spaghetti feed and Christmas tree bingo is tonight at the CVIC Hall in Minden. Doors open at 4 p.m. for cocktails. Dinner of spaghetti with the Elks special sauce, salad and garlic bread is served at 5 p.m. The party continues for the lighting of the gazebo in Minden Park, returning to the CVIC Hall for Christmas tree bingo. Bingo prizes are Christmas trees. Children are welcome to play. Cost is $6 and $4 for children 11 and younger. Information, 265-4523.


Parade party at Copeland center

The Carson Valley Arts Council's annual Parade of Lights party is 4 p.m. Saturday, inside and outside the Heartstrings Gallery in the Copeland Cultural Arts Center, 1572 Highway 395, Minden. Food, warm drinks and friends of the arts. Information, www.cvartscouncil.com or 781-0150.


Toy exhibit at Dangberg Ranch

A holiday toy exhibit is noon to 4 p.m. today through Sunday at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park, 1450 Highway 88 in Minden. On display are toys, games and Christmas decorations from the 1870s through 1940s. Admission is $3 for adults and free for children 12 and younger. Information, parks.nv.gov/hr.htm or 783-9417. 'Scrooge, the Musical' opens tonight

The Pau-Wa-Lu Players present "Scrooge, the Musical," 7 p.m. today and Saturday, and Dec. 11, 12 and 2 p.m. Sunday and Dec. 13 at Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School, 701 Long Valley Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos. Santa breakfast in Genoa

The Town of Genoa sponsors breakfast with Santa Claus, 8:30-11 a.m. Saturday at 2289 Main St. in Genoa. Menu includes pancakes, sausage, orange juice, cocoa and coffee. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the Genoa Town Office. Remember cameras for photos with Santa. Information, 782-8696.


Holiday Gala at museum

The Douglas County Historical Society's Holiday Gala is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville. Buy cookies and vote for favorite gingerbread houses and Christmas trees. Pictures with Santa and the Hank Monk sleigh at 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. are $5. Free admission for seniors and students with accompanying adult on the first Saturday of the month. Gallery of Trees on display Saturday through Dec. 31. Information, 782-2555.


Parade of Lights Saturday

The 14th annual Parade of Lights is 5-8 p.m. Saturday. The parade route is between Lampe Park in Gardnerville traveling on Highway 395 to Minden Park. Grand marshal of the Light the Way Home parade is Jeane Mulreany. Event sponsored by Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce, Accolades Trophies and Town of Minden. Breakfast with Santa

Boy Scout Troop 495 hosts their annual pancake breakfast with Santa, 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. Pops holiday concert

Carson Valley Pops Orchestra presents a holiday concert, 7 p.m. Sunday, in the Shannon Ballroom of the Carson Valley Inn in Minden. Free admission, donations appreciated.
