Art meeting today

Girl Scouts host fall party Saturday

Carson Valley Girl Scout troops host a fall party 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane.

Cost is $8 per child. Girl Scouts may earn a patch. Events include pumpkin bowling, sack races, bobbing for apples, crafts, face painting, refreshments, smoothies and baked goods. Information, Ron Santi, 267-2774.


Elks breakfast Sunday

The Elks of the Minden-Douglas Lodge No. 2670 pancake breakfast is 8:30-11 a.m. Sunday. Choice of pancakes, eggs/omelets, sausage, juice and coffee, $5 for adults and $3 for children. The lodge is at 1276 Pit Road, Gardnerville Ranchos.


Spooky stories

at library

Children age four and older are invited to dress in Halloween costumes and hear Tilly the Witch read spooky stories, 6 p.m. Monday at the Douglas County Public Library, 1625 Library Lane, Minden. Information, 782-9841.


Blood drive Monday

The Alpine Kids blood drive is noon to 7 p.m. Monday at Turtle Rock Park, 17300 State Route 89 in Markleeville.

Evergreens fundraiser

Order evergreen holiday decorations to benefit Austin's House. Deadline for orders is Wednesday for deliveries made the week of Dec. 1.

Harvest festival

Calvary Chapel's Harvest Festival begins at 5 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds on Pinenut Road. Suggested admission is two unopened bags of candy per family.

There will be cookie decorating, cake walk, live entertainment and free food, drinks, games and candy. Non-frightening costumes encouraged. Information at Calvary Chapel, 265-3259.


Harvest party

The Trinity Lutheran Church Harvest Party is 5-7 p.m. Oct. 31 at the church, 1480 Douglas Ave. in Gardnerville.

The event features tractor trailer hay rides, live band, astro jump and prizes awarded for games. Hot dogs, beverages, popcorn and candy will be provided. Information, 782-8153.
