Barbershop groups perform in Carson

Barbershop groups unite for the "Barbershop Through the Years, an Experience in A Cappella Harmony" show presented at the Carson City Community Center at 7 p.m. on Oct. 24 and 25. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and students younger than 17. Information at 885-1480 or 887-1854.


The show includes the Chorus of the Comstock, Let it Ride quartet from Las Vegas, the concert choir and quartets from Carson High School and other area singing groups.


Ted Nagel is a member of the Carson City-based Chorus of the Comstock that will be performing at the "Barbershop Through the Years" show.


"Barbershop harmony is unique to the United States and was developed in the early 1800s," he said. "The Barbershop Harmony Society and the Chorus of the Comstock are made up of 35 members from Carson, Douglas County, Silver Springs and Lake Tahoe who get together for rehearsals every Thursday at the Carson City Senior Center. We have a lot of fun and are always looking to grow our membership."


The Barbershop Harmony Society and the Chorus of the Comstock rehearse 7:30 p.m. Thursdays at Carson City Senior Citizens Center, 901 Beverly Drive, Carson City. Open membership, Rook Wetzel, 885-1480.
