A month of the art of giving

Staff Reports

Artisans International Gallery is teaming with Carson Valley Trails Association to help raise money to match government grants to complete a portion of the 24-mile Genoa Foothill Trail System.

Artisans International Gallery is conducting a sealed bid auction of artwork from the gallery and area artists until Nov. 8. Interested bidders can view the items at the gallery during regular hours, place their sealed bid, and whoever posts the highest bid will be notified. The difference between the minimum bid and the final bid on all items will be donated to Carson Valley Trails Association. Minimums start at approximately half of the retail value.

Artisans International Gallery owner Bronwyn Mason believes in preserving the best part of what nature has to offer whenever and wherever possible.

"The views in Carson Valley are spectacular and every time I am out walking in the mountains, I am rewarded with all kinds of surprises," said Mason. "We need to preserve that feeling of being in nature in our valley."

The money raised by Carson Valley Trails Association will provide the U.S. Forest Service oversight, trail-building equipment, environmental studies and land surveys. For more on the CVTA project go to www.carsonvalleytrails.org

Artisans International Gallery is at 1653 Lucerne Street, Suite B in Minden Village. Information, 783-8881.
