A memorial service was Tuesday for Gerry Llewellyn, 75, who died Oct. 12, 2008, in Reno.

Born Feb. 11, 1933, in California to Goldie and George Kurtz, she was one of six children.

She and her husband, Ted, raised their children in Baldwin Park, Calif. When her husband retired from farming, the couple moved to Carson Valley, where Mrs. Llewellyn worked for the Carson Valley Inn for 16 years in various positions, where she never missed a day of work, family members said. Family members said that many times, patrons of the Minden casino asked for her by name.

Mrs. Llewellyn was preceded in death by her husband.

She is survived by six children; one stepdaughter; brother Fred Kurtz; sister Betty; several grandchildren; many nieces and nephews;

Donations may be sent to the American Heart Association. Services are pending at Greenlawn Mortuary in Bakersfield.

A celebration of life is Saturday for Gardnerville resident Robert L. Pendell Jr., 41, who died Oct. 8, 2008, of a heart attack.

Born Feb. 22, 1967, Mr. Pendell will be cremated and his ashes spread in the mountains near Wenatchee, Wash.

Washoe Memorial Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
