Get a sneak peek of new arts building at dinner dance

Staff Reports

The Carson Valley Arts Council opens the doors of the old Copeland building for the Sneak Peek Dinner and Dance on Saturday. Dinner is 6-8 p.m. and dancing starts at 7:30 p.m. A barbecue-style chicken, beef or vegetarian dinner will be catered by Lira's Market and dance music is provided by Bobby Freeman and his Flaming Rockin' Piano.

Sneak Peek Dinner and Dance offers residents a chance to sneak a peek on the progress made to transform the old Copeland warehouse into a multifunctional cultural arts center and theater.

With support from Big George Ventures, the Carson Valley Arts Council put the down payment on the building in January to create an arts center and theater. CVAC board members will be available to discuss the project and conceptual designs of the theater venue donated by architect Ralph Eissmann.

Tahoe Ridge Winery will serve soft drinks, beer and a limited edition Sneak Peek wine at a no-host bar.

Freeman and his Flaming Rockin' Piano is a one-man fireball of a show guaranteed to have you dancing the night away. Freeman's musical repertoire includes rock 'n' roll, country and Western, rhythm and blues, gospel and big production hits.

Casual dress is recommended attire. Tickets are $30 in advance for members, $35 in advance for nonmembers or $40 at the door. Ticket information, 782-8207 or 781-5200.
