Gardnerville fire scorches 1.5 acres

Firefighters responded to a 1.5-acre brush fire 4:28 a.m. after receiving a report of a building fire in Gardnerville.

The fire burned on a 15-acre parcel located behind Carson Valley Auto Repair.

East Fork Fire Capt. Terry Taylor said it appeared to be a warming fire that was not properly extinguished.

The fire went to a second alarm because of the potential that it could spread to neighboring buildings.

However, because of the high humidity and low wind, firefighters were able to suppress it before it did any damage to surrounding structures.

Firefighters from Gardnerville, the Gardnerville Ranchos, Ruhenstroth and Minden responded to the blaze.
