The Associated Press is reporting a hiker found three pieces of identification with adventurer Steve Fossett's name.
Preston Morrow said he turned the items along with $1,005 in cash, to Mono County authorities on Monday.
Mammoth Lakes is well within the range of the single engine aircraft Fossett flew from the Flying M Ranch in southern Lyon County on Sept. 3, 2007.
Fossett was never heard from again.
No wreckage of the aircraft has so far been found.
