Sinfonia performs free concert Sunday

The Carson Valley Sinfonia presents its fall/winter concert 4 p.m. Sunday at the CVIC Hall in Minden. The free concert is sponsored by the Carson Valley Violin School and Friends of the Carson Valley Youth Orchestra.

High school seniors Ally Reith and Brian Jaggard are featured soloists. Reith will perform the first movement of deBeriot's "Concerto No. 9" and Jaggard will be heard in the first movement of Mozart's "Concerto No. 4."

The program opens with the first movement of Bach's "Brandenburg Concerto No. 5" arranged for four violins. Also included are the allegro movement from Mozart's "Eine Kleine Nachtmusic" and the premiere performances of conductor John O'Neill's "A Little Bit of Ireland" and "Summer Fun."

The Carson Valley Sinfonia is a student-community string orchestra with members from Minden, Gardnerville, Carson City, South Lake Tahoe, Topaz and Yerington. Information on the orchestra or Carson Valley Violin School, now in its 17th year, at 267-3495.
