Gardnerville couple killed in accident

The family of the couple killed in the collision on US 395 in Douglas County late yesterday afternoon has been notified. Norman White, 73, and his wife Virginia White, 70, of Gardnerville were traveling south bound on US 395 near China Springs Road yesterday afternoon around 4:40 pm. It appears that the driver, Norman White, may have applied the brakes to his classic1955 Pontiac sedan and for reasons unknown, swerved to the left. As the vehicle swerved to the left, it entered the northbound travel lane sideways where it was struck in the right side by a tan 1999 Chevrolet pick up being driven by Hector Trigueros, 40, of Topaz, California. The force of the crash killed Mr and Mrs. White at the scene while Mr. Trigueros was initially taken to Carson Valley Medical Center by ground ambulance and then flown by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno. He was treated at the Emergency Room at Renown Medical Center and was released from the hospital thereafter. Alcohol is not a factor in this accident and witnesses are encouraged to call Trooper Kris Satterwhite at (775) 689-4682 regarding case No. 0805231211.
