Driver unhurt when truck tips over

A 56-year-old California truck driver was unhurt Friday when the tractor-semitrailer he was driving tipped over on Kingsbury Grade.

Jietao Liu of San Jose, Calif., was traveling east on Kingsbury Grade when his vehicle failed to negotiate the curve.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, Liu lost control of the vehicle and it overturned across the center line. The vehicle continued in a northeast direction, sliding on its left side onto the westbound paved shoulder.

The vehicle struck a mile marker and dirt embankment, coming to rest on the westbound paved shoulder facing east on its left side.

The vehicle damaged about 90 feet of asphalt, according to the patrol report.

The accident occurred shortly after 7 a.m.

The patrol determined Liu was driving too fast for conditions, and he was cited for failure to use due care.
