Four races shaped up on the first day of filing Monday, including one in each of the county commissioner seats and another for Gardnerville town board. The match-ups are Greg Lynn and Dave Nelson for District 1, Doug Johnson and Blaine Spires in District 3 and Mike Olson and Stuart Posselt in District 5. The fourth race is for Gardnerville Town Board where incumbents Paul Lindsay and Randy Slater have a third for this season, Michael J. Smith. There are only two seats open on the town board.

A former GE Energy employee faces up to five years in prison this morning after admitting in March that he took company property and posted it on eBay. Michael Carpenter, 32, is scheduled to appear before District Judge Dave Gamble for sentencing.

We may see some showers tonight as another disturbance rolls through Carson Valley. There's a slight chance beginning after 11 p.m. and then a slightly better chance of thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Wednesday. The high today will be in the neighborhood of 80 degrees.
