The R-C Morning Report

Happy Good Friday on this beginning of the Easter weekend and the last day of spring break for Douglas County students. Oh, sure, they'll have the weekend, but by Monday, the school zones will fire back up and it will be two more months of instruction before school's out for summer. There are a variety of Easter Egg hunts on Sunday, but the big one will be 1p.m. Sunday in Lampe Park put on by the Carson Valley Active 20-30 Club. Kids will hunt eggs in three aage groups, 0-3, 4-7, and 8-11.

Smith Valley resident Phil Tucker called on Thursday to say the Lyon County commissioners voted 5-0 against any lands bill that sets aside wilderness. Tucker said the governor is getting on board in the fight to stop the feds from adding more wilderness.

It will be a beautiful Easter weekend with sunny skies and warm temperatures through the middle of next week. The high today is forecast to hit 57, but will probably go warmer. The lows, however, will stay below freezing, so no spring fever quite yet.
