The Pine Nut Mountains Trails Association along with the Douglas High School Alpine Club host a cleanup of trails in the Mission Hot Springs area, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 29. The group meets at the north end of Vicky Lane.
Bring good shoes and gloves. Shovels and garbage bags will be provided. Bringing pickup trucks would be helpful for removing trash.
"We'll be picking up shot gun shells and hauling a car out of there - it's ridiculous what people dump," said club member Rita Borselli. "There's a washing machine out there, the top of a horse trailer, a water heater tank. People should take advantage of the Southwest Gas offer to pick up old appliances.
"Our club's goal is to keep trails open," she said. "If we have to go out and clean it, we'll clean it."
The Pine Nut Mountains Trails Association appreciates donations of food and beverages for the cleanup crew.
The group meets the first Thursday of the month at Round Table Pizza on Topsy Lane and is open to horse riders, hikers and bikers.
Information, Rita Borselli, (775) 292-2704.
