Classes planned on how to create a successful wedding

More than 90 people attended the Genoa Bridal Fair in the Genoa Town Hall on March 1.

"It was triple what the first event in November was," said Marilyn Presti from Event Connection. "We had wedding cake from the Genoa bakery and wines from Tahoe Ridge. It was very upscale."

Prospective brides, grooms and their parents received information about wedding destinations, planners, photographers, food and beverage suppliers and entertainers. The open house featured samples of food, wines, coffee, chocolate and cakes from vendors of Destination Genoa, a group of about 13 businesses of the Greater Genoa Business Association.

"We're hoping Genoa will generate wedding business from the show," said Presti. "We gave a short but informative presentation at the open house on wedding tips."

Presti has three seminars scheduled to prepare couples and their families for what to expect when planning a wedding. Besides the wedding planning, she hopes to feature guests speakers on handling stress.

Opportunities for engaged couples and/or parents to attend one of three How to Plan a Successful Wedding seminars at 10 a.m. to noon, March 15, April 19 or May 9 in Genoa.
