The Town of Gardnerville's Movies in the Park opens with "The Goonies" at dusk tonight in Heritage Park.
Starring Sean Astin and Josh Brolin, "The Goonies" is about seven young friends who discover a pirate's treasure map. The 1985 movie runs 111 minutes and is rated PG.
Vendors at the event include the Carson Valley Lions Club, Boy Scout Troop 411, Papa Murphy's Take N Bake Pizza, Coldstone Creamery, Subway and Little Jimmy's Italian Ice.
Movies continue with "E.T." on July 18, the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra entertaining with show tunes before the classic movie "Citizen Kane" on Aug. 15 and Disney's "Meet the Robinsons" on Sept. 5.
Movies in the Park is made possible by sponsors Bad Bonz Motorsports, BodyWise Physical Therapy, Burger King, Carson Valley Accounting, Carson Valley Medical Center, Colonial Bank, Vincent D'Ascoli, DDS, Hairport, Mark Smith Tire Center, Re/Max Realty Affiliates, Sharkey's Casino and Studio Vogue Salon.
