Bruce E. Mitchener, president of the Reno/Tahoe Friendship Force International club, recently presented the book, "The Other Side of the Mountain" by Charlene Terrell, to Karen Fitzgerald, library services coordinator for the Douglas County Public Library.
The book chronicles the history of Friendship Force International, a nonprofit cultural exchange organization dedicated to the belief that each person can make a contribution to global goodwill.
Established in 1975 and based in Atlanta, Friendship Force International provides an opportunity to people of different countries to connect through home hospitality exchanges. Mitchener and his partner, Linda Hiebert Sekiguchi, have traveled throughout the world with Friendship Force International.
"This is a great way to travel," said Mitchener. "Not only is it inexpensive since one is hosted in homes, but one learns to know an area through the eyes of people who actually live there."
