Soroptimists accepting service grant applications

Soroptimist International of Carson Valley is now accepting requests for funding for community service projects that benefit the community, and women and children in particular. The deadline for submitting applications for funding requests is July 15. The funding will be awarded to recipients in October.

The Soroptimist International is the world's largest classified service organization for executive and professional women to provide service around the world.

Fundraisers held by Soroptimists International of Carson Valley throughout the year to raise funds for community projects have included Abbey Crossing Women's Shelter, Family Support Council of Douglas County, Douglas County Senior Center, Meals On Wheels, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Heritage Park, student scholarships, student achievement awards and luncheons, Halloween Safety Street, A Fighting Chance, Project Santa Claus, Carson River Work Day, American Cancer Society Relay For Life, Swing For A Cure, Day Of Unity, MammoVan, Ronald McDonald Camp, Soroptimist Smile, Carson-Tahoe Cancer Center and other community and global projects.
