Reserve deputy testing July 2

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office will be testing for the position of reserve deputy sheriff on July 2.

Testing for this position consists of a written examination, oral board review, physical agility testing and a background investigation.

Individuals contemplating a career in law enforcement or looking for a way to serve the community in a reserve capacity are encouraged to participate.

The reserve program is particularly seeking eligible women, as the need for female deputies to assist with operations and extraditions is increasing.

Reserve deputies work an array of details, augmenting sheriff department personnel. Reserve deputies may be assigned to assist in the jail division, patrol division, investigations division, or elsewhere as required. Reserve deputies receive training and experience that law enforcement agencies look for when hiring new officers.

Interested individuals should contact the Douglas County Human Resource office at 782-9860 to obtain an application prior to the testing date. Contact Sgt. Jim Halsey at 782-9931 to obtain information on the application process.
