A private funeral service is set for Gardnerville resident Marcella Broquist-Schmid, 95, who died June 21, 2008.
Born in Eureka Springs, Ark., she grew up in the Illinois Quad-cities area.
In 1941 she moved to Los Angeles. She and her first husband, Vern Broquist, worked in the defense plants during World War II. Then they moved to Manhattan Beach, Calif., and enjoyed the beach areas for many years.
She retired from the Broadway Department Store as a credit manager. In 1978 she moved to Palm Desert, Calif., where she spent many happy years. She moved to Carson Valley in 2007.
She is survived by her son, William Broquist; daughter-in-law, Claudine Broquist; sister Pat Spindel; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Broquist-Schmid loved family camping in the High Sierras, so her remains will be taken to the Little Lakes Valley in Rock Creek.
A private service will be held for Gardnerville resident Frank Wright, 86, who died June 19, 2008, in Carson City.
Born Jan. 12, 1922, in Auckland, New Zealand, to James Leslie and Marie Wright, Mr. Wright moved to Gardnerville in 1991 from Walker.
He enjoyed fishing and sporting events, especially tennis and rugby.
Mr. Wright is survived by his wife, Merly Yares Wright; son Owen Wright of Albany, Ore.; daughter Leslie Wright of Gardnerville; nephew Frank Wright of New Zealand; and three grandchildren.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley has been entrusted with his final arrangements.
