Gardnerville rapist arrested in Reno rape cases

A 44-year-old man who served 20 years in prison for the 1982 rape of a Gardnerville woman, was jailed June 13 in the rapes of two Reno women.

According to a news release from Reno Police Lt. Ronald McDonald, Curtis Ralph Lange was arrested at his home in Sun Valley for the May 3 sexual assault, kidnapping and robbery of a 54-year-old Reno woman and for the November 2006 armed sexual assault, kidnapping and robbery of a 56-year-old Reno woman.

"The arrest comes as the result of an exhaustive criminal investigation of Curtis Lange for the listed crimes," McDonald said. "We recognize that there may be other victims of this defendant in the area that may not have reported their assault. Accordingly, the Reno Police Department encourages any other victims of this individual to contact the Reno Police Department."

Lange was convicted in 1982 of the sexual assault of a teenage classmate in Gardnerville. He received a sentence of 20 years to life and was paroled in 2002 after serving 20 years.

Lange was being held in the Washoe County Jail without bail.
