Cyclo Garminada, a bicycle scavenger hunt open to all ages, will start 9:15 a.m. Thursday at 88 Cups in Minden Village.

"We got the idea from the Scallyrat race in Reno," said Genoa resident Anton Anger, one of the event's organizers. "I think we'll have a minimum of 30 participants, or 15 teams of two."

Participants will try to score as many points as possible by completing tasks assigned to each two-man team. Tasks include cycling to different points in the Valley, like the fish hatchery south of Gardnerville, the California-Nevada line, the Johnson Lane water tower and other landmarks.

"At 6 p.m., we will start a barbecue and awards ceremony back at 88 Cups," said Anger.

Sponsors for the event include 88 Cups, Bike Habitat, Sporting Rage and Cafe Girasole. Cost is $20. Proceeds go to the barbecue, T-shirts and prize money for winners.

Call Anger at 783-6456 for more information.
